The most beautiful gardens and terraces in Brussels

By Charlotte Deprez Published 03/06/2019

When the nice weather finally comes back to the city, we all come up with the same idea: find a nice terrace or garden where we can eat something and drink rosé. Then stay there until it starts raining again (hello, we’re still in Belgium). If you don’t have an outdoor area at home, you might want to take notes. Because these spots have the best gardens and terraces in Brussels!

Our selection of the most beautiful terraces in Brussels

  1. 52 and the Secret Garden
  2. Kolya
  3. Le Grand Central
  4. Sanzaru
  5. Café Flora
  6. The Lodge
  7. La Villa Lorraine

1. 52 and the Secret Garden

This Italian restaurant is hidden in plain sight on chaussée de Vleurgat. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’ll probably just walk by without even noticing. And it would be a pity because 52 and the Secret Garden might just be one of the cutest restaurants in Brussels thanks to a secret weapon: its bucolic, colorful and quiet garden. The open kitchen, super fresh food and very nice staff make this place one of our all-time favorites!

🌸 #52andthesecretgarden #garden #secretgarden #terrasse #bonneadresse #restaurant #brussels #ixelles #italianrestaurant #italianfood #secretplace #food #healthyfood #veggie #foodlover #foodie #foodporn #dinner #soireedete #friends #pepitesdamour

2. Kolya

Behind the impressive ivy-covered facade of the Manos hotel, on the busy chaussée de Charleroi, hides an incredibly peaceful place: a huge terrace like no other in the center of Brussels, surrounded by gardens and fountains. On the menu, you’ll find fine cuisine inspired by the most traditional Belgian dishes. The lunch changes every day according to the market, so yes, it’s super fresh.

Kolya, chaussée de Charleroi 100, 1060 Saint-Gilles. More info here.

3. Le Grand Central

Le Grand Central does not have one, but two terraces. One on the ground floor, partly covered for when the sun is too strong or when it rains, and one on the first floor, perfectly exposed all day long. For a good coffee in the morning, a weekend brunch or after-work cocktails, Le Grand Central is a must near the European district.

Le Grand Central, rue Belliard 190, 1040 Brussels. More info here.

4. Sanzaru

Looking for something original? In a beautiful art deco house on the Avenue de Tervuren, you’ll find one of the best nikkei — fusion between Japanese and Peruvian cuisines — restaurants in Belgium: Sanzaru. The decoration is sleek and modern with a gorgeous touch of color brought by the huge murals.

On the menu, everything is mouthwatering. And outside (because that’s what we’re talking about here, remember?), there’s a chic terrace overlooking a beautiful garden and trees. Oh and the cocktails are a must here, you’ll forget that you’re in Brussels.

Sanzaru, avenue de Tervueren 292, 1150 Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. More info here.

5. Café Flora

Remember when we announced that we’d bought the Aegidium to give this Saint-Gilles jewel a second life? Well, Café Flora is one of the numerous projects we developed to make that happen! The terrace, right on de Parvis, will make you feel like you’re on vacation thanks to all the colorful chairs screaming “Aperol Spritz on a sunny day”. Hurry up though, it’s still kinda secret…

Café Flora, Parvis de Saint-Gilles. More info here.

6. The Lodge

A pond, water lilies, bamboos… No, you’re not in a Manet painting but on the terrace of The Lodge, in Watermael-Boitsfort. This place has the superpower of making you feel like you’re on vacation somewhere exotic, not at the entrance of Brussels!

With a very long and varied menu, the food will most probably get everyone to agree. Whether you’re more into salads, oysters, pasta, tartare or even a wok, you’ll find it all here. However, don’t expect the service to be super welcoming. But the setting will make it worth your while.

The Lodge, rue des Pêcheries 2, 1170 Watermael-Boitsfort. More info here.
